Promise of Hope Luncheon Breaks Attendance and Fundraising Records

Friday, Apr 1, 2016

An impression was left by our Teen Speaker, Kambraiah Williams, as she shared her story of an unstable childhood.  Kambraiah experienced foster care as an older youth and spoke from the heart about the special friendship she shares with Amy Fowler, her CASA advocate.  Kambraiah gave recognition to Amy for the unwavering support and guidance she received while in foster care, her most difficult days.  Kambraiah also spoke of her dreams to help others.  She believes that every child and teenager in foster care deserves the same opportunity she had by having a CASA volunteer, and stated that CASA volunteers change lives for the better.  Amy Fowler also shared comments on the pair's journey together.  Amy was always glad to be there for Kambraiah, whether lending an ear to listen, offering support through difficult times, or celebrating the joy and excitement of being accepted into college.  Kambraiah and Amy's relationship will be long-lasting with each having enriched the other's life.

The Promise of Hope event also honored Executive Director Lois Rice for her long-standing service to CASA and its children.  The Champion for Children Legacy Award was presented to Lois in recognition of her impending retirement, which was officially announced at the event.  CASA volunteers David Platt, Marty Swayze and Amy Fowler were also recognized for their great work in support of children.

In total, the event welcomed 900 guests.  This is the most ever in its 13-year history!  Fundraising goals were also well exceeded with nearly $90,000 in gifts and pledges contributed, marking this luncheon event as an outstanding achievement!  We would like to thank the hard working volunteer planning committee as well as our Table Captains.  This event to benefit CASA children would not have been possible without their contributions.  Thank you!
